Champions of the MPL MY/SG Season 5, Resurgence exceeded all expectations last Sunday to secure a second place finish in the MPL Invitational 4 Nations Cup, consisting of the best teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar. This prestigious tournament boasts a total prize pool of $100,000USD.
Seeded into the upper brackets of the MPL Invitationals, Resurgence had a meteoric performance on their debut which saw the team knocking down Myanmar's top seed, Burmese Ghouls, to advance into the semifinals with a convincing 2-0 victory. Resurgence then put up a tough fight against MPL Indonesia champions, Rex Regum Qeon, but fell short with a 0-2 result.
The upper brackets provided a lifeline for the MY/SG champions, as Resurgence was set for a rematch against Burmese Ghouls in the lower bracket finals. With a gruelling battle that resulted in a close 2-1, Resurgence pulled through, securing the victory and bringing Singapore to the Grand Finals. According to Esports Charts, our Grand Finals showdown against RRQ enjoyed a peak viewership of 971,516 viewers, with the Indonesian powerhouse claiming the top prize.
The Resurgence Mobile Legends team consists of veteran Singaporean players led by Eugene "Kayzeepi" Kong, Jason "Jason" Koh, Lim "Ly4Ly4Ly4" Yang, Loh Siang Ming "Sana" Brandon, Eehong "SynC" Ho, and Glenn "XCP" Hong. For their valiant efforts, the players took home $18,000USD as the 1st Runner Up in the championship.
